Introduction:
Celebration of festivals in school is one of the fond memories I have. In our school, we used to celebrate festivals like Saraswati Puja, Ganesh Puja, Republic Day, Independence Day etc.
All the students and teachers along with the principal used to a part of the celebrations. It was a day full of fun and excitement. Classes used to be called off on these days and the students used to return home after the celebrations concluded.
Celebration of Ganesh Puja in School:
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The festival which was celebrated in the most enthusiastic spirit was Ganesh Puja. Since Lord Ganesh is a name, synonymous with studies and knowledge, all the students used to celebrate Ganesh chaturthi with utmost respect and dedication. The idol of Ganesh was usually bought by the school peon from the nearby market. It is neatly placed inside the school auditorium. Many students help in the decoration of the auditorium along with the teachers.
Cultural Function:
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Our school hosts a cultural function on the eve of Ganesh Puja. It usually happens on a Saturday. On that particular day, the students performing are asked to come in their respective attires. The school hall is nicely decorated and all the parents of the students are invited on that day. The performers are to be seated in the second row before the teachers and the principal. Sitting in the nicely decorated hall is a wonderful feeling.
The function begins with a welcome address by the principal followed by a few talk sessions of the teachers. In the meanwhile, snacks and drinks were served to the crowd. Then the cultural events begin by the students. Each one of the performers is supposed to go to the stage and perform in front of a big crowd. The school photographer would click photos.
Lunch and Celebration:
After the puja and function, a grand lunch awaits us. The food is delicious and everyone gulps down their food. I and my parents also had food and then we went and talked to my class teacher. She was very happy with my performance and told my parents that she was proud of me. My parents were very happy. After the dinner, everyone gathered in the hallway for a photo session.
Everyone clicked pictures of themselves with their friends and families on that day. It was a memorable occasion. Even the principal and the teachers joined us in the photography session and I saw a jovial side of our principal on that particular day. There was also a photo clicked of especially all the performers together.
