Baisagu is basically the Bohag-Bihu festival celebrated by the Bodo-Kacharis of Assam.
Among Darrang Kacharis, Bohag-Bihu festival lasts for seven days, during which little or no work is done, the whole period being given up to merry- during which little or no work is done, the whole period being given up to merrymaking, dancing, feasting, etc.
On the opening day all cattle are taken to the nearest river or tank and there formally bathed and afterwards sprinkled with a preparation compounded of rice-bur (zu), tomatoes, and turmeric.
